Alice Pike

Alice is a Certified Professional Mediator, handling primarily family court cases involving custody disputes.  She also occasionally mediates landlord/tenant cases, small business disputes, and employment disputes.  This is her “reinvested” career; for most of her professional life she worked as a litigation paralegal. She began that work in Salt Lake City with the law firm of McKay, Burton & Thurman.  She worked there while pursuing her undergraduate studies at the University of Utah, majoring in philosophy.  She was a litigation paralegal for approximately two years, and then worked for nearly three years as a bankruptcy paralegal for a bankruptcy trustee in their office.

She left Salt Lake and moved back to Idaho Falls when she married E. W. “Ted” Pike.  After their marriage, she worked with him in their own law office.  That is when she first became familiar with the CHC Foundation.  Ted did their legal work and grant reviews, and he soon assigned much of that work to Alice. After Ted died in 2009, the CHCF Board asked Alice to continue in that role, and then in 2012 invited me to join the Board.  I was honored to accept.

Community service has always been important to Alice.  In addition to her work with CHCF, she served on the board for the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Center for many years, and is currently vice-president of the Idaho Falls Symphony Board.  She has enjoyed volunteering with various community organizations.

In 2012, she married Kenneth E. Krell, M.D.  His wife, Pamela Krell, died shortly after Ted did in 2009.  They began having dinner together to deal with their losses, and it gradually grew into a wonderful relationship.

Says Alice, “I am so blessed to have him in my life.   I am grateful for the love and companionship we share, and for his unstinting support of my work with CHCF. I am also blessed to have a large extended family.  I have eight siblings, and we are a tight-knit group.  I also, in addition to the children I gave birth to (two boys and two girls), have five step-children from my marriage to Ted and three more from my marriage to Ken.  I have 18 grandchildren from those relationships.  Family is very important to me!  In my ‘spare’ time I enjoy scuba diving, hiking, gardening, cooking, sewing, reading, and playing music.”
