Cher Stone

Cher Is a retired barber/stylist who owned and operated Cherz & Co. for 45 years, and then began a practice of Spiritual Direction, Centering Prayer, and Dreamwork in 2013.

Leaving the University of Idaho and a degree in Education in 1972 to begin a career in a male-dominated profession was a reflection of the times and the emerging feminine energy.  This led to owning several different salon locations and working with many wonderful people, not to mention all the interesting and diverse clients. As retirement age neared, Cher decided to spread her spiritual wings and attend Haden Institute for Spiritual Direction, graduating in 2013. Thus began her second career in Spiritual Companionship and Listening.

All through her life, Cher has been involved in serving her community by being a part of non-profit social agencies. It formally began in 1984 with the St. Mark’s Soup Kitchen, which led to the creation of the Community Outreach Center, Emergency Housing Exchange, and volunteering for the Soup Kitchen and Community Food Basket.

Cher has served on the CHCF Board of Directors since 2015 and currently serves as secretary of the Board. The CHCF has given Cher the opportunity to be a part of awarding grants to innovative programs with much needed resources. It is a chance to give funds, and a change from her long- held practice of raising funds for the projects dear to her heart.

In an attempt to balance work and play, Cher loves to play golf, read, garden, cook, travel, and watercolor paint. Her favorite activity is walking with friends and visiting with family.
