Finishing Touch on Childcare Facility Helps Keep Teton Families Safe
In 2022, Teton County was facing a childcare crisis. There were significantly more children who needed daytime care than spots available in care facilities. Seeing this need, a group of leaders from nonprofits, along with city and county officials, formed the Teton Valley Collaborative for Early Learning.
After securing funding, and the donation of a residential facility called Gambal House, the Collaborative had the building moved onto Teton School District Property, where it was renovated. This newly renovated facility now provides 60 additional spaces for childcare and offers extended hours for commuters.
After construction, a few small additional renovation needs remained. Because the building lacked gutters, snow melt was draining directly onto the sidewalks, creating both safety hazards and concerns about structural damage caused by flooding. The installation of gutters and heat tape would help keep the walkways safe and clear year-round while also protecting the building from water damage. The School District and the Collaborative reached out to CHC Foundation asking for a grant to fund this additional, essential, finishing touch. CHCF was happy to support this worthy project.
