Playground Updates Benefit Entire Neighborhood

Edgemont Elementary School's playground was old, outdated, unsafe, and not accessible for all students. As a community school, the elementary playground is used a lot - not just during school hours but also before and after school and on weekends. Updates were desperately needed. To meet this need, the school's PTO created a "New Playground Committee," a group of teachers and parents who worked hard to make a new playground for Edgemont a reality. With donations from community members, services provided by local businesses, support from the school district, and a grant from CHC Foundation, a new playground was finally installed.

"The [new playground] has made a huge impact on the students here at Edgemont as well as the surrounding neighborhood," wrote Michelle Thompson, school secretary. "The playground is safer, modern, and fun, which is what all the students need when they are at recess. It is also improved the look of the school, with matching school colors, making Edgemont an inviting and safe school for our patrons to send their students to."
