Salmon Kids Get a New School With a New Music Room
Salmon School District was struggling with overcrowded schools and failing building infrastructure. The K-8 school building was becoming unsafe, with frequent sewage backups, a cracked foundation, and a kitchen so small that some food had to be stored outside. Forth and fifth graders were attending classes in aging portable classrooms and sixth, seventh, and eighth graders had been crammed into the high school with older students, where the social environment was unsuitable for the younger children.
The district was able to pass a bond to build a new school, but the bond amount was inadequate to cover the full costs of the building's construction. This meant the Salmon Education Foundation and the Salmon School Needs Assessment Committee rolled up their sleeves and began some serious fundraising efforts to get that school built.
As part of these fundraising efforts, they sought a grant from CHC Foundation. CHC was delighted to donate the funds needed to construct the music room that will be a part of this new school. We were happy to help support a safer and more suitable learning environment, increased educational opportunities, and stronger community growth in Salmon.
The new school will be welcoming students in Fall 2026.
