VFW Flag Drop-off Box Ensures Dignified Disposal

When a US flag has become tattered and worn, the most respectful way to dispose of it is in a private, solemn burning ceremony. Local scout troops and VFW organizations will perform these ceremonies regularly for anyone who needs to dispose of a flag. The Arco VFW asked CHC Foundation to provide a grant to help purchase a drop-off box that would allow community members to drop off used flags in a dignified way to be properly disposed of. This system makes it simple for anyone in the area to retire a flag, without having to hunt down someone in the VFW or scouting program. CHCF was happy to help make this purchase.
